Waterfront West is firmly committed to protecting the privacy of both our buyers and our advertisers. The following document describes our policies regarding the use and protection of personal information. By accessing our site, you consent to the collection and use of information as described herein. If we make any changes to our privacy policy, we will update the effective date listed above. We encourage you to check the date of our privacy policy to see if there has been an update since your last visit.

General Information
You can visit our Site and access most of our information and resources without registering or providing any personal information.

If you would like to become an advertiser, a member of our Buyers' Club, or register for our newsletter, we require additional information. We do not collect this information to resell, rent, loan, trade or lease; however, we will use this information internally to help us improve our service and determine the demographics of our users.

www.waterfrontwest.com/.ca uses www.opentracker.net to collect and analyze traffic on our site. This information helps us understand customer interests and helps us improve our website. A cookie is used to store small amounts of information. This information is collected for traffic analysis only. The cookie does not contain personal details. Information you submit on our site:

When you submit an enquiry to one of our advertisers using the enquiry form, your email is sent directly to the advertiser and copied to Waterfront West. Your email address and contents of the enquiry will not be distributed to anyone other than the advertiser to whom it was directed and Waterfront West. We do not sell or redistrbute any of this information. The cc that goes to Waterfront West serves as a backup in case the advertiser does not receive it due to mechanical or human error (junk mail filters/incorrect email addresses).
Sellers' Newsletters
Subscribing to our Sellers' Newsletter requires only your name and an email address. We do not resell or redistribute this information. We use this information for our own purposes to send out our quarterly market update newsletters and help to keep our buyers and sellers informed about the waterfront real estate market. Newsletter subscribers may also opt to receive additional information about upcoming sales, press releases and company news about Waterfront West but will only receive these updates if they click on the box to indicate they would like more information.

Buyers Club & Newsletters
To become a member of our complimentary Buyer's Club, and access certain information on our Site (deal of the week, sales statistics, or to be eligible for our Best of the West Welcome Packages) we require your name, e-mail and unique identifiers (username & password). Members of our Buyers' Club may then sign-up to receive our newsletters. We make every effort to keep this information confidential and use it for the purpose of better serving our customers. Sometimes we may collect your city and country of residence. Collecting the location of our buyers and sellers helps us to decide where to focus our marketing, enabling our sellers to reach more buyers and making our service more effective for both parties.
As we are strictly an advertising service, we do not send out our buyers' contact information to our advertisers. Advertisers will only receive our buyers contact information when our buyers initiate contact with the advertiser (real estate agent, seller, service provider or developer) regarding a property or service they are interested in.
If they so choose, our customers may provide us with additional information, such as occupation, age and property preferences. This information will be used to identify key characteristics of our customer markets, which we will use for our own marketing purposes (as described above). In addition, we hope to use this information to identify the needs of our customers and help us to develop improvements to our Site. This general information may be shown in graph or chart form to our advertisers to indicate the demographics of our customers, but personal information (name, e-mail) will not be disclosed.

Every Buyers' Club newsletter you receive has an "unsubscribe" option. Simply click the link attached to the newsletter to stop receiving them.

Advertisers and/or Sellers
When purchasing advertising space on http://www.waterfrontwest.ca or http://www.waterfrontwest.com our customers are required to fill out our registration form including name, address, company (if applicable) and other contact details. In addition, advertisers choose unique identifiers (password & username) to log in and out of their accounts and make changes to their ads. Contact information received by Waterfront West is used to get in touch with our customers when necessary (i.e.billing, customer service, etc). As mentioned above, advertisers will be contacted with company information and notification of sales, only if they choose.

Cookies

We may use cookies to identify users and customize their experience on our Site based on information they give us. Cookies are small pieces of information or files that are stored on a user's computer by the Web server through a user's browser for record keeping purposes. A cookie itself is not designed or intended to read any information from your computer (other than the contents of the cookie); rather, it is an identifier used by the Web site that originally placed it on your hard drive. The actual contents of the cookie information can be retrieved by the same site's Web server in order to personalize, monitor, or regulate the use of the site.

Payment Information & Credit Card Security
When making an on-line credit card payment for Waterfront West, our customers are redirected to the PayPal secure and encrypted Web site. Waterfront West does not keep your credit card or banking information on file. On-line credit card information you provide us is handled by PayPal. Payments made directly to Waterfront West (by calling in with your credit card or cheque) are handled with the utmost discretion. Credit Card information is destroyed immediately after each transaction is approved.
Security of your information
Waterfront West has security policies in place to protect the misuse or loss of information you provide to us. We backup our site on a daily basis and keep personal information in locked files and on a password protected database system. While we make every effort to safeguard this information, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will keep third party hackers from illegally obtaining this information.
Exceptions:
1. Protection of Waterfront West and Others
We may release personally identifying information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law (e.g. a lawful subpoena, warrant or court order); to enforce or apply our policies; to initiate, render, bill, and collect for amounts owed to us; to protect our or our users' rights, property or safety; or to protect our users from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful use of, our Site; or if we reasonably believe that an emergency involving immediate danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires disclosure of communications or justifies disclosure of records without delay.
2. Business Transfers
In addition, information about our users, including personally identifying information, may be disclosed as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of company assets, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy or receivership in which personally identifiable information could be transferred to third parties as one of the business assets of the company.
